Feb. 24, 2014 –
We are very excited to see all of you at the 57th Annual Southern Forestry Conclave hosted by Virginia Tech Forestry Club at Claytor Lake State Park. We have worked very hard to ensure an exciting competition and are looking forward to a fun-filled and safe weekend. Due to the possibility of cold temperatures and inclement weather, we have reserved a limited number of cabins onsite at Claytor Lake State Park. Free tent-camping and nearby hotels are also available. Meals for each contestant will be provided Thursday evening through Saturday night.
To kick off the weekend, Thursday afternoon we will be competing in the “Non-Clave” Competition, which is made up of several non-point events. Early Friday morning we will begin the Conclave competition with the technical events, followed by the beginning of the physical events in the afternoon. Friday evening the STIHL Collegiate Timbersports series will be held at the Alphin-Stuart Livestock Arena on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, which is about 30 miles away. We will pick back up on Saturday morning with the rest of the physical events. We will finish out the weekend with the awards ceremony on Saturday night.
We ask that you please respect the state park and especially their employees who have been so generous with their time and support. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our President, Donnie Reese, 434-517-1405, firstname.lastname@example.org.
